The Women of Troy by Complete Works Theatre Company

Wednesday, 8 May, 7:30pm

Complete Works Theatre Company presents Euripides' The Women of Troy, a version by Don Taylor.
An industrial port of a war torn city: women survivors wait to be shipped abroad as the spoils of war. A
grandmother, once queen, watches as her remaining family are taken from her one by one while Troy burns.

Euripidesí anti-war tragedy focuses on the horrifying consequences of violence. It is a story told by the anguished
voices of women who are the collateral damage in a war they didnít make, in a world where they have little
power. The heavy cost is evident and we are confronted with the notion that the trauma, suffering, wreak and
ruin of this war is being played out today on a global scale.

Only the dead shed no tears. They are beyond weeping. - Hecuba
